Felix Alexander Chavez

Felix A. Chavez, 79, of Ruidoso, NM, passed away on April 24th, 2026, in Ruidoso, NM. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on December 27th, 1946, in Capitan, NM, to Aristeo and Christina Romero Chavez.

Felix was known for his passion for restoring classic Chevrolet trucks, his love for gardening, his excessive woodpile, and his love for Jesus. Whether he was hauling wood, moving dirt, gardening and tending his fruit trees, or visiting with his family and his friend Toby Rue, Felix remained constantly active. He particularly cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He married Amy in Alamogordo on December 19th 1971.

Felix is survived by his children, Emiliana Chavez, Abeslin Chavez, Cresencio Contreas Chavez, Alexandria Armstrong, and Aristeo Chavez; his siblings, Lydia Rue, Maria Salas, Theresa Chavez, Lillian Lopez, Monroy Chavez, Ruben Chavez, and Adalina Payne; and his grandchildren, Cresencio, Francisco, Antonio, Abeslina, Aurelia, Athina, Abigail, Aurora, Alyana, and Eloise. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Felix was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Contreras Chavez.

A celebration of Felix's life is scheduled for June 6, 2026, at 11:00 am. The service will take place at the Fountain of Living Water Church in San Patricio, NM.
