Elsie Mason

Visitation for Elsie Irene Mason, 98, formerly of Capitan will be Saturday, Feb. 16, from Noon until 1:00 PM at Trinity Southern Baptist Church with the funeral service at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating with burial will follow at the Capitan Cemetery. Mrs. Mason went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 10, in Keene, Texas. She was born May 15, 1909 at Westbrook, Texas. She was a longtime resident of New Mexico living in Capitan, Alamogordo, Albuquerque and Farmington. She married R.D. Mason November 8, 1930 at Tucumcari, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on August 8, 1999. She was a charter member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Capitan. She was a devoted Christian who taugth Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Training Union. She had a ministry of purchasing Holy Bibles for numerous groups and languages. She retired from Air Force Civil Service in 1984. She is survived by four daughters, Geraldine Cowan of Dallas, TX; LaNora Pickel of Alto; Dana McCracken of Dallas, TX; Tricia Mason of Aurora, CO and a son, David Mason of Spokane Valley, WA; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
