Elizabeth Candelaria

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Candelaria was called home to heaven on Wednesday March 30, 2022. She passed away at her home in San Patricio, NM surrounded by her loving family.

Lizzy was born on July 13, 1959, in Ruidoso, NM to Edward and Amelia Candelaria. She spent most her life in the beautiful San Patricio valley. She graduated from Hondo High School in 1977 and went on to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. She would soon find her calling as a caretaker back in Ruidoso, NM. Lizzy had a gift for taking care of people and spent her entire adult life caring for the residents of Ruidoso and the surrounding communities as a CNA and MA until retiring in 2020.

Lizzy was very knowledgeable in her profession, she had a huge, compassionate heart and a smile that would instantly make you feel like everything was going to be ok. She was a treasure to her family and the entire community and touched the lives of so many.

Lizzy was preceded in death by her loving daddy Edward (Lolo) Candelaria, her big brother Billy Candelaria, grandparents Frank and Grace Gomez and Jose and Isidra Sanchez Candelaria and beloved nephew Michael Candelaria.

Lizzy is survived by her mother and best friend Amelia Candelaria.  She is also survived by all of her children and grandchildren who she loved and cherished more than life itself. Jason and wife Angela Candelaria, Joshua and wife Jannette Candelaria, Jessica and husband Blake Czajkowski and the baby, Justine Candelaria.

She was known as "Mimo" to her precious grandchildren; (Cruz, Cayson, Caleb and Charlotte Candelaria), (Isaiah, Davian and Cade Candelaria), (Elyanna Greer), (Grayson and baby brother Candelaria).

She is also survived by her beloved brothers and sisters; Frank Candelaria (Christy), Gerald Candelaria (Toy), Annette Candelaria, Philbert Candelaria (Rosie), Peggy Candelaria and Melissa Candelaria (Martin).

Lizzy was a mother figure and looked up to by all of her nephews and nieces and she cherished and cared for them as they were her own.

Lizzy was a blessing to everyone and made everyone's light shine a little brighter. She will be missed beyond words.

Pallbearers: Porfirio Romero, Billy Candelaria, Ramon Alvarez, Ramon Alvarez Jr., Martin Romero, David Lucero, Shaun Cobb and Blake Czajkowski.

Honorary Pallbearers: Michael Candelaria, Cole Cobb, Nicholas Gonzales, Beau Gomez and Velarde Gonzales and Juan Chavez.

Services for Lizzy will be Monday April 4, 2022, at St. Jude Catholic Church in San Patricio.  Rosary will begin at 10:30am followed by the funeral at 11am. Burial will follow at St. Jude Cemetery.
