Edgar Smith Jr. passed from this life on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at his home in Mescalero surrounded by his family. He was born on March 2, 1960 in Mescalero to Edgar Smith Sr. and Rosaria Enjady Smith.
Edgar was always working and was determined to continue learning. He enjoyed biking, hiking, horse riding, cutting wood, skiing, joy rides, and shopping.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and also Martin Enjady and Theodora Smith "Tuts" Enjady; Alvina "Gal" Smith; Arlen "Biddy" Smith; and Oswald "Boy" Smith Jr.
Edgar leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Edwina Smith, Zandra Smith, Vanora Smith, and Kathryn Enjady; brothers, David Smith, Kevin Enjady, and Kerry Enjady; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Pearl Pike, Paisley Pike, Donte Vicenti, Kelvin Rocha, Kaleia Rocha, Kelena Rocha, and Baileigh Rocha; and his fur-baby, Chune.
The funeral procession will leave LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso at 9:00AM on Friday, August 15, 2025, and will travel to Saint Joseph Apache Mission Church in Mescalero for services. The Rosary will begin at 9:30AM with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30AM. The service will conclude with burial at Mescalero Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Dewey Camanche, Maurice Forte, Alcario Provencio, Daniel Enjady, Thomas Douglass, La Kyeemo Granger, Ryan Smith, Raiford Rocha, Shawn Monongye, and David Monongye.
Honorary pallbearers are Everett Enjady, Thurman "Cowboy" Sago, Brian Klinekole, Perry Cleveland, Archie Comanche, Eugene Padilla, Jose Valdez, Herschel Smith, Harry Vasile, Johnny Parker, and Allen Duffy.
Gratitude to the surrounding area for your acceptance of our wild Apache. It wasn't easy. Thank you for all the support and love you shared. Thank you from the Smith family and friends.
