E. Loyd Jones passed away on February 17, 2008 at Mescalero Care Center in Mescalero, New Mexico. Loyd was born in Jacksboro, Texas on May 30, 1920 to Charles and Luna Jones. He was the youngest of six children. He graduated from Jacksboro High School and attended Texas A M University. Loyd was a World War II veteran serving as First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. He flew over Italy, Germany and Africa during active service. Prior to going overseas he married Mary Lou Wilbourn at Konowa, Oklahoma in 1941. Loyd returned to Guthrie, Oklahoma in 1945 at which time he founded Loyd Jones Oilfield Service. the business moved to Perry, Oklahoma in 1950. The business expanded to the Oklahoma-Texas Panhandle with the main office in Perryton, Texas. Loyd and Mary Lou owned the business for 56 years. Loyd was very committed to his company and took great pride in his employeed, many of which went on to start their own businesses in the oilfield industry. Loyd had a life-long love of horses. He owned, raced, and bred throughbreds for most of his adult life. He as a charter member of Ruidoso Downs Turf Club in Ruidoso. He also raced at Remington Park in Oklahoma as well as many other states including California and New York. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Beth Fowler and her husband Eddie of Capitan; 2 sons, Buddy Jones and his wife Teresa of Perry, Oklahoma and Kevin Jones and his wife Donna of Morrison, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Loyd was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Lou Jones on January 28, 2007. A private memorial service was held on February 19, 2008 at St. Joseph's Mission in Mescalero with Father Peter Sanderson of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Mount officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Stroke Association.
