Douglas Lynn Siddens
September 1956 - August 2025
Douglas Lynn Siddens, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away in the community he loved so deeply-Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Doug never met a stranger. With a warm smile, a firm handshake, and an endless supply of stories, he quickly became a fixture in the Ruidoso community. He spent 48 years in real estate, helping others plant roots in the mountains he called home. He also proudly served for over 13 years in the Ruidoso Volunteer Fire Department, where he found a second family and deep sense of purpose.
Doug had an explorer's heart and a deep appreciation for history. He spent countless hours outdoors, hunting for Native American artifacts and preserving the stories they told. One of his greatest passions was the legend of Billy the Kid. Through his project "Shot in the Dark," Doug pursued the truth behind the legend-chasing DNA evidence, rewriting history, and keeping the spirit of the Old West alive.
A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and a spirited sports bettor, Doug brought humor and energy to every game day. His enthusiasm, curiosity, and love of storytelling left an imprint on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jessica Siddens; his son, Douglas Lynn Siddens II; his daughter, Landree Siddens Suttle; and his grandchildren, Stone Suttle and Harper Siddens. He is also survived by his sister, Jacque Siddens.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Fran and Ed Siddens, and his sister, Kamala Carzoli.
His legacy lives on in the people he loved, the history he preserved, and the mountain town he helped shape.
