Dorothy Rogers of Capitan, New Mexico was born to James Albert Rogers and Ruth Morgan on May 23, 1941. Dorothy passed peacefully from this life to the next on July 19, 2026. Dorothy found her forever family as a teenager in Richland, Washington with Paul and Josephine Scott. Their children counted her as their sister and Dorothy called the baby daughters, Linda and Leslie, her kids.

After graduating from Columbia High School in Richland, Washington, Dorothy joined the Women's Army Corps. She served during the Vietnam War, and after one tour she attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Business, spending summers working for her uncle Dr. Lester Scott in Ontario, Oregon. Dorothy re-enlisted in the WAC as an officer and was honorably discharged as Captain Rogers.

After her distinguished service, she found a position in El Paso, Texas, working for Price Dairy as a bookkeeper for many years. When she left Texas, she found the small community of Capitan, New Mexico. The communities' care and kindness caused her to stay. She worked as a bookkeeper, researcher, and historian. For the City, the Church of the Nazarene, Bonita Camp and Fort Stanton. Her computer was her constant companion, as well as her TV, as she was a baseball fan. She loved helping organize the annual district Ladies' Retreat. Her faith sustained her and she was a prayer support for her friends and family, often up late into the night.

She is preceded in death by her father James Rogers and mother Ruth Morgan and her bonus parents Paul and Josephine Scott.

Dorothy is survived by her bonus brothers Jon (Margaret) Scott, Cameron (Lisa) Scott, and sisters Candace Ramsey Bopp, Linda (Michael) Setterberg and Leslie (Jim) Huffman and their children and grandchildren.

Visitation is 2 to 4, August 19th at La Grone Funeral home in Ruidoso, New Mexico and the funeral will be held at Ft. Stanton Military Cemetery at 10am on August 20th.
