Services for Donald M. Reecer, 85, of Alto, N.M., will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday, December 15, at the Main Street Church of Christ in Lockney, Texas. He died Monday, December 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Donald was born May 10, 1932, in Lockney to Loren and Clara Reecer. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He then returned to Lockney, where he married Mavis Tate on July 1, 1955, and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 35 years. They moved from Lockney to Alto after his retirement in 1991.
He was a longtime member of the Lockney Volunteer Fire Department and served on the board of directors of Plains Federal Credit Union and Floydada Country Club. Donald was a life member of the VFW, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; daughter ,Julie of Lubbock; son, Tim of Ruidoso; son, Rich and his wife Debbi of Grapevine; grandson, Matt of Lubbock; brothers, Paul of Lubbock and Ben of Seattle, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his beloved sister, JoAnn Smith and brother, Ronald.
The family suggests memorials to the Eastern New Mexico Children's Home in Portales.
