Donald "Don" Rainey, 71, of Ruidoso passed away on Friday, April 20, in Alamogordo, NM. He was born January 29, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. He moved to Ruidoso in 2011 from Midland, Texas where he lived from 1996 until 2011. He moved to Ruidoso because he loved the wild life and mountains and loved to ride his Harley.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War, volunteered as a caretaker of the Wild Horses at Alto and loved to take care of them for the community. In 2011 he retired as a plumber after 40 years.
He married Arden, the love of his life, on September 25, 1999 in Midland, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Arden; son, Norman Patrick Rainey of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA; daughter, Victoria Marie Rainey of Holman, WI; step-son, Kristopher Michael Radau of Oklahoma City, OK; half-brothers, George Kristopher Rainey of Elm City, NC and Reginald Ronald Rainey of Midland, TX; step-sister, Lynn Aubuchon of Capitola, CA; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his beloved dogs.
His memorial service will be Monday, April 30, at 1:00 P.M. in LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.
