Born on August 22, 1948, in Escondido, California, Don lived a life marked by the quiet strength of a mild-mannered soul and a heart full of sincere affection. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to all who knew him.

For 45 years, Don was the proud owner of Gary Drywall, a testament to his dedication, hard work, and pride in his craft. But beyond his professional accomplishments, it was his family that filled his life with the greatest joy. Married just shy of 59 years to his teenage sweetheart, their enduring bond was a remarkable testament to love's true and lasting power. His daughter and son were the pride and joy of his life, and his love for them was boundless, a constant source of his strength and happiness.

In 2021, Don gently transitioned from the bustling rhythms of his earlier life to the serene and beautiful landscapes of Ruidoso, New Mexico. Here, embraced by the peace and majesty of the wildlife and natural beauty, he found a new chapter filled with quiet contentment and reflection.

Don's passions extended beyond his work and family. He loved the thrill of the ocean, a gifted and excellent water skier who delighted in the rush of the waves. Surfing was more than a hobby; it was a connection to freedom and nature that stayed with him throughout his life. Camping trips with family and friends brought him immense happiness, moments of laughter and togetherness under open skies, a place where memories were woven into the fabric of their shared lives.

He is survived by his loving wife, daughter, son, six grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
