Delbert Posey

Visitation for Delbert Posey, 84, of Ruidoso Downs will be Thursday, Feb. 7, at the First Baptist Church of Ruidoso Downs from Noon until 1:00 PM with the funeral service at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Randy Widener officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Posey a longtime resident of Ruidoso Downs went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2008 after a long illness. He was born in James Canyon near Cloudcroft on May 29, 1923 to Claude and Nellie Pearl Posey. He was the grandson of pioneers, Jane and Ed Posey, who homesteaded land near the place of his birth. Apart from a brief time at Camp Pendleton, California during World War II, Mr. Posey spent his entire life in New Mexico. He met his wife, Anna M. Judy Judia who he married in Alamogordo on June 3, 1945. They moved to Ruidoso Downs Greentree in 1947. Delbert retired as a natural gas plumber from Zia Natural Gas in 1991. He is fondly remembered as a Deacon and Music Director of the First Baptist Church of Ruidoso Downs where he and Judy have been members since 1975. He is survived by his wife Judy; daughters, Sandra Stierwalt, Eileen Snodgrass, and Mary Del Posey and their children and grandchildren. Delbert will always be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, doting grandfather, and good and faithful friend.
