David Pickel

David Leon Pickel was born in Mountainair, New Mexico, March 26, 1939 to Otho Brias Pickel and Juanita Flemins Pickel. He married LaNora Mason July 31, 1956 and graduated Highland High School, Albuquerque, New Mexico one year later.

After high school David began working for Southern Union Gas Company as a mail boy. He retired with the title of Vice President, Chief Engineer from Public Service Company of New Mexico.

After retirement they RV'd from Massachusetts to California and Alaska to Mexico. David also did post retirement work for SUG Company in Austin and for Hobbs Gas in Hobbs NM.

In 1994 the Pickels made their home in Ruidoso, NM, until 2006 when they moved to a retirement complex in Keene, TX, and continued to summer in Ruidoso.

David was a member of Keene Baptist Church and J Bar J Country Church in Ruidoso
where he played guitar and sang with the choir.

David loved music and RVing. Other hobbies included motorcycling, scuba diving, tennis and golf.

David is survived by wife LaNora, son Leonard and wife Jeanne Escher-Pickel of Wintergarden, FL and a sister Sidney Smart of Mountainair, NM.

A celebration of life service will be held at J Bar J Country Church in Ruidoso December 1, at 10:30 a. m.
