Cleofas Montes

Cleofas Montes passed from this earth on March 17, 2007. She was born in San Patricio and lived her 73 years in the beautiful Hondo Valley. she married Johnny Montes, a fruit grower and businessman from Glencoe, in 1951. Johnny preceded her in death in 1987. Since 1951, Cleo and Johnny developed their business, The Montes Fruit Stand. She was renown for her warm personality, her wealth of information, as well as the many jellies and preserves made from products grown on the family farm. She and Johnny together raised a family of five. All survive her along, with their spouses and children. Monroy and Susan Montes, Gary and Patricia Rue, Julio and Lucy Montes Sandoval, Johnny Montes, Jr. and Lynette Baldwin, Carlos and Cathy Molina. She also has 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her 99 year old mother, Lucia Y. romero and 3 brothers and 4 sisters also survive her. Cleo lived a wonderful life serving the Lord on a daily basis. Cleo will also be remembered for her giving spirit, as she was constantly providing gifts, advice, encouragement, and comfort to make your day brighter. Cleo was a 25 year cancer survivor and devoted time and compassion for the sick and elderly. Cleo was a Mom, Abuela, Ita, Madrina, Comadre, to many and a friend to everyone else. Her love for her fellow human being was unconditional. She will be terribly missed by all.
