Clara Guthrie

Clara Guthrie, 82, of Glencoe passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at her home. She was born March 26, 1934 at Portales, New Mexico. She moved to Lincoln County with her family in 1943 from Portales. She attended the Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Capitan High School. She married Buddy Guthrie on April 20, 1951 and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2000.

In the years of her children growing up she served as a Brownie Scout Leader and Cub Scout Troop leader.

When she was ask what she was the proudest of, she said: "Raising my children and grandchildren. Always trying to be supportive of my husband and I was a darn good dental assistant."

She is survived by a son, Edward Guthrie of Garland, TX; daughter, Nelda Francis of Las Vegas, NM; brother, Delmar Nail of Anthony, NM; grandchildren, Brecca Addison, Carl Guthrie, Stacy Guthrie, Dale Guthrie, Clara Sue Guthrie, Kenneth Guthrie, Zack Francis, Jeremy Francis, Amanda Fletcher, Susana Rue and Christina Guthrie; 17 great grandchildren and she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Guthrie on April 18, 2015.

Graveside service will be Friday, December 2, at 1:00 P.M. at the Ruidoso Hondo Valley Cemetery at Ruidoso Downs.
