Carmen Huffsmith

Funeral Mass for Carmen M. Huffsmith, 81, of Ruidoso will be Saturday, April 2, at 10:00 AM in St. Eleanors Catholic Church. The Rosary was Friday, April 1, at 6:00 PM in LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the mass at St. Judes Catholic Cemetery at San Patricio, NM.

Mrs. Huffsmith passed away Thursday, March 31, at her home in Ruidoso. She was born June 5, 1929 at Durango, Mexico. She moved to Ruidoso in 1976, her husband Jose Cardenas passed away on July 11, 1964 them she married Pat Huffsmith in 1984. She had a very strong work ethic which she instilled in all her children. She always wanted kids to finish high school.

She is survived by seven children, Miguel A. Cardenas of Austin, TX, Jose A. Cardenas of Midland, TX, Maria Magdalena and her husband Arasto Martinez of Midland, TX, Jeronimo Cardenas and his wife Alicia of Durango, Mexico, Marcella Gallegos and her husband Jose of Ruidoso, Frances James and her husband Danny of Austin, TX and Patricia Lee and her husband Jerry of Midland, TX one sister, one brother, 31 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three other children, Carmen Newsome, Javier Cardenas, Ricardo Cardenas.
