Carla Shanta

Carla Marie Shanta, age 42, passed away on April 28, 2025, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. 

Carla is survived by her daughter, Kaleigh Blaylock and her two children, Machias Huiser and Nadia Bates and her son Devon Shanta; her siblings, Rosie Shanta and her kids with their families Julian Wheeler, Lyndsey Castanon, Lorenzo and Laramie Saenz, and U.S.A.F. T Sgt. Lacie Chavis and Andre, Samirah and Ailani Chavis, and brother Pius Garcia with Destinee and Tierney Shanta and Elijo Ration and niece Rozelle Shanta. 

She is preceded in death by her older brothers Sheldon Shanta and Leander "Slick" Shanta, and their dad, Edward Shanta. 

Visitation for Carla will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso. A rosary will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph Apache Mission in Mescalero. Mass will follow the rosary at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Mescalero cemetery following mass.
