Billy Jean Jameson, 88, of Ruidoso died peacefully Friday, March 6, 2015 at her home in Ruidoso, Born February 4, 1927 in O'Donell, Texas, Lynn County. Her parents were Faye Stokes and Sylvester Walker who both preceded her in death along with her two brothers Frank and Nevil Walker.

Billy Jean received a Bachelor of Education degree in 1949 from New Mexico A&M. Forty-two years later she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from NMSU. She was a primary school teacher in El Paso, Texas and she also taught in Downey, California.

She met Dowd Jameson in El Paso, Texas. They were married January 6, 1950 in Tucupita, Venezuela. They were married 65 years. They had a very interesting life together and traveled to many different countries around the world. In 1951 they lived in Newfoundland for a short time while Dowd was in the Navy. After Dowd was honorably discharged from the Navy he worked for Bethlehem Steel as an engineer and manager. This job brought them many opportunities to travel. They lived in Eastern Venezuela for 17 years. Then they moved to Madrid, Spain where they lived and worked for five years, From there they moved to Sierra Leone, West Africa for another five years.

Billy Jean was creative and artistic. She loved to paint portraits and landscapes. She was a very talented artist with a very keen sense of humor. Billy Jean was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She loved to sing in the choir. Billy Jean was a very kind hearted Christian woman. She will be missed by her friends and family.

Billy Jean is survived by her husband Dowd Jameson; her sister Lenore Frost and numerous nieces and nephews including Mark & Elaine Frost, Lori Frost. Gayle, Troy, Darci, & Tanner Thompson, Brede Eranio, Tauna Eranio, Arlie & Beth Walker, Rachel & Mark Pollard, Alyssa Pollard, Karen Walker, Curtis Walker. Kirsten Walker and Katie Walker.

Billy Jean will be laid to rest at New Mexico State Veterans Cemetery in Fort Stanton, New Mexico in a private ceremony. A Time of Reflection for Billy Jean will be held at LaGrone Funeral Chapel on March 20th, between 9 and 5. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, St. Jude Children's Hospital, your local Hospice or Baptist Church Missionary Program.
