It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arden Lyle Eckersley, a dedicated husband, loving father, and proud retiree of the United States Army. Arden was born on April 26, 1937, in Logan, UT, and peacefully passed away from natural causes on June 8, 2024, at his home in Ruidoso Downs, NM. He was 87 years old.
Arden is preceded in death by his parents Arden Leroy and Vivian Eckersley as well as his son Leroy Kurt Eckersley.
Arden proudly served in the Army from August 12, 1957, to August 31, 1977, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served in Germany, Korea, Japan, and several United States installations. Arden's commitment to his country was unwavering, and his service will always be remembered with gratitude.
In his civilian life, Arden worked in civil service for the United Sates government. His work ethic and dedication were unparalleled, leaving a lasting impact on all those he encountered.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ursula Eckersley, his son Rodney Eckersley, and his son-in-law Michael Berg. Arden's legacy lives on through his family, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
A Graveside Service to honor and celebrate the life of Arden Lyle Eckersley will be held at Fort Stanton State Veterans Cemetery on June 13, 2024, at 10:00 am. Friends, family, and fellow servicemen are invited to pay their respects and share their fondest memories of Arden.
As we gather to bid farewell to a true American hero, let us remember Arden for the kindness, courage, and dedication he exemplified throughout his life. His spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
