Amelia Ann Aragon, a dedicated dispatcher, public servant, and first responder for over 35 years, passed away on May 1, 2025, in her hometown of Carrizozo, where she was born on January 27, 1967. She was well-known for her honest, no-nonsense attitude, sharp humor, and a love for dancing that brought joy to those around her.
Amelia was educated with some college experience, which she applied in her professional life as she served her community with unwavering commitment. In her personal life, she cherished moments spent with family and friends. Some of her fondest memories included date nights with her son, Julian Aragon, and traveling to Hawaii, highlighting her adventurous spirit.
Her interests were diverse and reflected her vibrant personality. Amelia enjoyed cooking, cheering for the Denver Broncos, watching wrestling and basketball, playing video games, and had a fascination with wolves.
She is survived by her loving son, Julian Aragon; her grandson, Davien Walters; her brother, Jeffrey Aragon; and her sister-in-law, Janie Aragon. Amelia is also remembered by her sister, Geralyn Aragon, and sister-in-law, Yvette Aragon, along with nieces and nephews, including Kristi Bigas, Nathan Aragon, Vanessa Gonzales, Albert Barela, Melissa Barela, Katrina Barela, David Jaramillo, Kamaria Dozier, and a special cousin, Liz Beltran. Additionally, she leaves behind many great nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Amelia was preceded in death by her father, Rafael Aragon; her mother, Mary Aragon; her brother, Gerard Aragon; her nieces, Amber and Julia Aragon; her brother-in-law, Albert Barela Sr.; and her nephew, Joe Angel Kazhe. She will also be remembered for her love for her pets, Duke and Kimbo.
Amelia's spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved her, as they hold dear all the laughter and warmth she brought into their lives.
The Rosary Service for Amelia will be held at 10:00AM Friday, May 16, 2025 at St. Frances de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the Rosary at 10:30AM.
