Alda Laverne Blake, 71 of Mescalero, NM passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, in Las Cruces, NM. She was born on October 30, 1954, to Emerson J. Blake and Elizabeth Guydelkon LaPaz.

Alda was a homemaker and she took great care of her family, making sure they always had a hot meal and a place to stay. Everyone was always welcomed in her home.

Alda will be reunited in heaven by her loving companion of 50 plus years, Melferd Yuzos Jr.; sons, Emerson Yuzos Sr, and Melferd Yuzos III; granddaughter, Jessalyn Mendez; and her sister, Myra LaPaz.

Those left to cherish her memory here on Earth are her 3 children, Lucinda Yuzos, Ben Blake and Sondra Pellman; her brothers, Francis Blake Sr., Christie LaPaz Jr, and Patrick LaPaz; sister, Garnett LaPaz; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous grandchildren.

Alda was such a kindhearted person, she loved all her family. Her house was the 'home' of Gayton Ridge. Everyone loved visiting with her. She will be deeply missed by all.
