William Stevens

August 15, 1966 — December 31, 2019

Mescalero, NM

On December 31, 2019, William T. Stevens “Tony”, 53 years of age passed into eternity.  He was born to William O. Stevens of Alabama and Orlinda Stevens of Mescalero, NM.

Tony loved working with and being around his friends at Ski Apache.  Tony loved is family and worked so hard to provide not only what they needed but what they wanted.  Tony also raised his nephews, Jeramiah Begay, Jeremy Begay and Darald Begay.  They adored Tony and looked up to him as a mentor father figure and loved him for everything he has done for them.  Tony loved all kids that he came across.  He also had a love and concern for elderly people.  He had a big hear and he was a gentle giant.

Tony graduated from Dale County High School in Midland City, Alabama.  Tony attended and graduated from Ozark Aviation School in Ozark, Alabama.  He received his degree for A & P license (Airframe and Power Plant).   Tony served in the U.S. Army to Fort Benning, Georgia and received a medical discharge.  Tony left Alabama and worked at Ski Apache in Mescalero, NM as a manager for the snow board shop for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy Smith-Stevens of Mescalero; three sons, Jonathan Sage Smith, Isaac Roth Stevens Jeremiah Chase Stevens; one grandson, Sage Smith.  Tony also had three brothers, Michael A. Torres of Mescalero, Brian Stevens of Mescalero and Robert H. Stevens of Alabama; step sister, Stephanie Torres of Mescalero.  Tony had several nieces and nephews from Mescalero and Alabama.

Tony grew up in Midland City, Alabama and was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church.

Tony was loved by many people and will be missed.
