Billy Jack Hicks was born on January 19, 1934 to Elmer Hicks and Effie (Layman) Hicks in Comanche, Texas. Billy was one of thirteen children. He passed from this world into eternity on October 22, 2019, at the age of 85 after a battle with pneumonia. He was surrounded by family in Ruidoso, NM when he passed. He is survived by 5 daughters, Judy and husband Danny Huey of Leon, Oklahoma, Cathy and husband Herman Guill of Alto, NM, Carla Hicks of Odessa, Texas, Melissa and husband David Hutchins of Ruidoso, NM, Jackie and husband Bryan Swanner of Ruidoso, NM; also, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kristy (Hicks) Swanner, and his wife of 52 years, Betty Jean (Davis) Hicks. Billy loved his family and took great joy in being at the center of their lives. He loved Johnny Cash, collecting coins, and making up funny stories about how things were named. He loved the Lord and made sure his family knew that God was in control. Billy excelled at several careers in his lifetime and was always a wonderful provider for his family.

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

Philippians 3:20-21
