The angels may be rejoicing that they have a great new band leader to help them sing praises to our Lord and Savior. Yet while they rejoice we weep over Darrell's passing. Our children remember with much fondness the kindness, the humor, and the work ethics that help form them into being # 1 on the field. We also remember sharing time at church and even our home when they had a flood in their home. Our hearts go out to Ann, the boys, and all of their family members. Darrell will be missed but remembered with much love.

I was saddened to hear he had passed away. I remember my marching band days the most out of my time at Mchi from '92 to '95. Although it was tough at times, he always believed in all of us and drove us to do our best. Pigskin was always my favorite thing to be a part of. Those long, hot practices in the parking lot were nothing compared to the excitement and accomplishment we felt after each win. I hope he knew how much so many students looked up to him. My sincere condolences to his wife and children and the rest of his friends and family. Heaven has gained another Angel. RIP Mr. Anderson

My condolences to Mrs. Anderson and the rest of the Anderson family during this difficult time.
Mr. Anderson was my band director at McAllen High School. He and Mrs. Anderson were two of the greatest human beings I ever met.
Mr. Anderson believed in everyone, every child. He felt music was the universal language, and no matter the different backgrounds and cultures in our area, the one language he could use to reach us was music.
I can still hear Mr. Anderson yelling out "M..... C....... H...... I!!" from the press box as we played our fight song and spelled out our school name at halftime!
God bless you, Mr. Anderson! The older I get, the more I appreciate what you meant to me and all of us...

We were very touched when Mr. Anderson made it a point to come on our charter bus where our Mchi Band had just performed in San Antonio State completion. The kids were feeling down about not making it to the finals. Mr. Anderson told them that even if they didn’t make it to finals, they had come in 33 out of 75 bands. He said, That’s Amazing right there! He was a considerate man and always put the students first. Thank you Mr. Anderson for your kindness on that day. May you be in the Glory with Our Lord and Savior. RIP
