Robert Doyle Greenhill
August 16, 1940  -  October 29, 2017

Robert Doyle Greenhill, age 77, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 29 ,2017. Bob was born on the family farm near New Deal, Texas on August 16, 1940 to Horace and Oleta Greenhill. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1963 with a degree in business. Bob was an avid Red Raider fan, and a long-time member of the Texas Tech Red Raider Club, and Texas Tech Alumni Association. It was said that he was early to all the games, so he could pop the popcorn!
Following graduation, Bob went to work at Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma Coaches in Lubbock. He was the president of the company for 30 years.

Bob was active in the Lubbock community and served on many boards. He was Chairman of the Board of University Medical Center for four years, as well as being on the Board of Managers for nine years. He was also Chairman of the Board for the Texas Motor Transportation Association, and served on many boards during his time in Lubbock. He was on the Lubbock Convention and Tourism Board, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Board, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Board.
He was always civic minded and was a long- time member of many civic organizations. He was a member of Southwest Rotary Club, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, Caprock American Business Club, Lubbock Convention & Tourism, the Lubbock Country Club House Committee, and a Diaconate at First Christian Church in Ruidoso.

Bob enjoyed coaching his children's youth league football and basketball over the years. He loved basketball, and played in city leagues until a young age of 53. He was an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils, and the Boston Celtics. He was so proud to be honored on March 6, 2017, as an inductee into the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Honor in Lubbock. He consistently arranged to haul Texas Tech Athletes all over for FCA camps and events, in addition to serving as President of the FCA Adult Chapter.
Bob married the love of his life, Margaret on May 21, 2005 in Roswell, New Mexico at Grace Community Church. Together, they have seven children, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. They traveled extensively and "two-stepped" all over the world. Bob's love of road trips and rodeos found them driving to the Calgary Stampede in Alberta, Canada, and to the "Granddaddy" of them all, the Cheyenne Rodeo, all in the same year. Following those, they enjoyed the National Finals in Las Vegas.
Bob was an excellent golfer, and actually played Augusta four times! He also marshaled at the Colonial in 1984, and had quite a time. After Bob and Margaret moved to Ruidoso, they spent many happy days playing couples golf with friends. Bob had a hole-in-one on his 63rd birthday at the Links in Ruidoso, witnessed by his good friend Jack Holland. He was proud of his score of 79 that he shot on his wife's birthday, November 18th, 2016, while playing at Alto with his two sons, Bobby and Jeff.

Bob was devoted to his family and enjoyed their visits in Ruidoso. He especially delighted in beating everyone in "Chicken Foot". He was a voracious reader; he loved western novels, "The Mountain Man" series, and movie hero John Wayne. You would find him on their back deck almost every day with a book in his hand, enjoying his beautiful Ruidoso.

When the time came for Bob to meet his Maker, he did so, just as he lived his life, with dignity, integrity, and with a strong faith. All of his family and friends were blessed to have been a part of his remarkable life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Oleta Greenhill, grandparents, Roy and Ora McNeely, and Alonzo and Artie Greenhill.
